William S. Gillen began his legal career as an Associate at a boutique New York City law firm specializing in estate planning and administration, elder law, special needs planning and real estate transactions. In 2009, William established a private practice focusing on estate planning, probate and estate administration, special needs planning, guardianship and real estate transactions.
His practice also includes serving as a Guardian ad Litem in Surrogate's Court Proceedings and as Court Evaluator and Counsel to Alleged Incapacitated Persons in NYS Supreme Court Guardianship Proceedings. William is the President of the Bay Ridge Lawyers Association and is also an active member of the Brooklyn Bar Association, Richmond County Bar Association and New York State Bar Association. He is also an active member of the Rotary Club of Verrazano.
He obtained his law degree from New England Law Boston, where he competed nationally as a member of the Tax Moot Court. During law school, he held internships at the Massachusetts Appellate Tax Board, the Richmond County Surrogate’s Court and J.P. Morgan Chase. William received a B.S. in Accounting from Fordham University. He attended Fordham on a scholarship from J.P. Morgan Chase where he worked in Corporate Tax.
